The weather is warmer, the sun is rising earlier and the birds are chirping, its time to celebrate spring. For so many months we have been curled up on the couch with big woolly blankets and steaming cups of hot chocolate. Although it might be tempting to continue this trend, its time to get up and GO, get out there, get playful and get healthy!
You are not the only one… we all need a little help with motivation. So here are some tips on how to kick-start your spring exercise regime:
Plan your week
It’s vital to plan your week in advance so that you know what to expect. Not quite sure how to plan? Use the GO Health app to get the perfect programme for you. It will ensure that you do right amount and the perfect mix of exercise you need. Planning helps you mentally prepare and ensure that you make the time to get active!
Pack your bag
Always be prepared. The more prepared you are the less likely you are to back out. If exercise is a hassle you will tire quickly and give up. If you pack your gym bag the night before you are far more likely to get up and GO the next morning!
Pick exercise you love
Choose something that you love doing. Especially when you are starting out you need to be excited to get up and GO. Whatever you choose it needs to make you feel great! Don’t choose an exercise just because you’ve heard its great for fat burning…if you don’t enjoy it you won’t keep doing it. So whether it’s a GO Dance, GO Flow, GO Cycle, free weights or simply a run outside, choose something that makes you smile. GO Health offers a wide variety of workout options with state-of-the-art equipment and fun group training classes. If you are still not sure what to do chat to a friendly Wellness Consultant who will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Start out slow
Pace yourself and take it easy in the beginning, especially if you haven’t been very active in the cold winter months. You need to let your body adapt and build strength for your new exercise regime and this takes time. Be patient and gentle. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t quite make it to 5kms yet. Start slow and gradually build your training, distance and intensity. Aim at an increase of 10% per week and this will help keep you free of injury and ensure that you GO far. Again both the GO Health app and the Wellness Consultants are there to guide you through your fitness journey.
Spring mornings are fresh and beautiful. Get outside and use the extra daylight for you and your wellbeing. An outdoor run, cycle or even yoga session will energize, rejuvenate and refresh you. Remember you can also track your outdoor exercise with the GO Health app, that way you can keep up to speed with all your hard work.
Spring is the start of new life and new energy. Let it inspire you to get up and GO for your own health, happiness and wellbeing. You won’t look back and you will feel amazing everyday.
